I've worked in the software development industry since joining BS Microcomp in Melbourne. After ten months I was assigned to the Japanese project culminating in four weeks in Tokyo. Two years later the company was downsized and five of us were transferred to Luxembourg for one year; I stayed ten.

Returning to Australia I lived in Perth, started a new IT company and later returned to Melbourne. Enjoying getting out for low-key fun, drinks, meals, walks, movies, and exploring the city. For a look at what I'm up to this month, check out my /now page.

2026-08-06 - Common dream again last night - emptying the full letterbox at the rue du St Esprit appartement after being away a long time.
2026-08-02 - Typical work dreams though I was writing search software on an IBM PS/2 Model 70. Not worked with those in 28 years. A bit of a DR-one/TIM4biz crossover.
2026-07-26 - The lights are off, there is space behind the couch for some one to creep up on me, it's time to watch The Thing (1982).
2026-07-23 - I'm periodically running the HP-41C BEEP [.mp3] command on the SwissMicros DM41X, somehow the old tune is comforting.
2026-07-17 - Woke at 04:14 to a fire alarm downstairs and the sound of approaching fire engines, no evacuation this time but I was well awake and started the day.

2026-07-13 - Stupid dream: Why was random bank requesting tax paperwork? Why was the bank guy servicing the fish pond? And why was it Ryan Reynolds? WTF?
2026-07-07 - Back to usual programming — last night dreams were in the rue du St. Esprit appartement — installing a network cable to access the server located in the kitchen.
2026-07-06 - Overnight I was dreaming I was formatting 5.25" floppy disks. One had a manufacturing defect and was too wide for the drive. WTF?
2026-07-02 - Watching Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan I know where the TV commercials were slotted. It's 44 years old — that's a little scary.
2026-06-24 - Spent too much time overnight dreaming about updating IIS web.config files — that's a new one! [Edit 2026-06-28: applied the updates]
2026-06-22 - Working through the HP-41CX Owner's Manuals again — this time with a SwissMicros DM41X, a modern interpretation of the HP-41CX.
2026-06-20 - The résumé had a workover yesterday. Today the website got an update — the first in 17 years — a total makeover. It looks more like a bought one.
2026-06-14 - Disclosure Day — I'm still gathering my thoughts but it was another Spielberg emotional workout. (loved it)
2026-06-05 - It was a nice morning for a fire evacuation and better 09:10 Friday than 03:30 Saturday. Firey said it was a "little fire".
2026-05-30 - Made a unique paper airplane during uni. Tried to teach a friend instructions during tipsy outings. Made it for the first time in years, named it for her.
